Talisker Distillers Edition 2022
Price per litre:
The idea behind the Distillers Edition is to deliver an alternative expression for each whisky; add richness of flavor and complexity. Some of us can’t improve on perfection, but we can however, emphasize different aspects of the taste through maturation process. Distillers Editions production started already in 1997 and is annual limited production where malt whiskeys are double aged different in type barrels. The second ripening takes place in batches, individually prepared in casks that have been specially stored wine. Each batch takes months and results in one bottling. Each limited quantity produced is indicated on the bottle date of distillation and bottling and batch number. The products of the 2022 batch also have new ones bottle labels that also convey the main product design elements.

The oldest working distillery on Skye, Talisker was founded 1830 by brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill. By late Victorian times it had become one of the largest selling single malts going from strength-to-strength, showing that then as now, the whisky had its own distinct style. But in 1960, the still-house was destroyed as flaming whisky ran into Loch Harport, that set it ablaze. The rebuilt distillery contained exact replicas of the old stills, featuring U shaped lye pipes that yield a form of double distillation and together with cooling in traditional worm tubs. These features still give Talisker unique texture and character.
Aroma: The aroma is excellent combined and harmonious. Fresh a mixture of sea air and beach algae, which supported by richer, smoky notes and malty sweetness.
Taste: Oily texture. The taste is the same smoky and salty, but also rich fruity sweet that turns woody from spiciness to peppery quickly. It’s in the taste still feel roasted figs and sweet notes of dates, peat smoke and sea salt. Very captivating long aftertaste.
