Michel Couvreur Overaged Malt
Price per litre:
Michel Couvreur Overaged Malt is an exquisitely delicious blend of single malts. The whiskies are aged in Pedro Ximenez Sherry oak casks between 12 to 25 years. The younger whiskies introduce a fresh and peaty nature, whilst the more mature ones intricacy and a well-balanced personality. After blending the whiskies, the fusion is left to age in a fresh Pedro Ximenez barrell. On the nose, it reveals spicy cumin, leathery tobacco, raisin and peaty notes. While sipping, the aromas fortify further, with hints of plum and orange peeking through. The finish is bewitchingly long, peaty and spicy. A fascinating dance on the tongue, the Michel Couvreur Overaged Malt is a complex whisky to indulge in.

Michel Couvreur was a businessman, a true whisky connoisseur and a visionary. To him, maturing the whisky in oak casks was what truly made the whisky, what made it personal and memorable. In 1978 he moved to Burgundy and dedicated his life to creating noteworthy and meaningful whiskys. His son-in-law Cyril Deschamps took over the family-owned company and carries on Michel’s legacy.
