Timothy Taylor’s Landlord is one of those beers people talk about for a reason. A classic English pale ale, it’s known for its balance: biscuity malt, floral hops, and a dry, gently bitter finish that makes every sip feel deliberate. Nothing is overstated, and that’s exactly the point.
Brewed in Yorkshire using traditional methods, Landlord has a clarity and structure that rewards attention without demanding it. Timothy Taylor’s Landlord feels equally at home with food and on its own. This classic beer is a reference point for what a British pale ale should be.

Timothy Taylor’s Brewery is an independent family-owned brewery based in Keighley, West Yorkshire, founded in 1858. It’s one of the UK’s most respected traditional breweries, known for doing things carefully and consistently rather than quickly or loudly. The brewery is still run by the Taylor family, now into its fifth generation.
What really sets Timothy Taylor’s apart is their attention to detail. They use traditional open fermentation, their own Taylor’s yeast strain, and water drawn from local Pennine springs. Brewing is slower and more hands-on than at many modern breweries, but that’s exactly the point — the focus is on balance, clarity, and repeatable quality rather than experimentation for its own sake.
Their flagship beer, Landlord, is often cited as a benchmark for English pale ale and has won numerous awards over the years. Overall, Timothy Taylor’s represents classic British brewing at its best: restrained, precise, and built on decades of quiet expertise.
